INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SUSTAINABLE LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN – ISLOGS 2026

 

The world is entering a period of profound transformation in supply chain management thinking and practices. After serious disruptions due to external shocks (typically the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, US-China trade tensions, the US-Iran war), global supply chains are being restructured in the direction of diversifying supply, shortening geographical distances (nearshoring), and prioritize resilience in addition to cost effectiveness.

At the same time, the pressure for green transformation is becoming stronger from the international community. The Paris Agreement on climate change, the UN 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) are imperative for businesses: Economic efficiency cannot be separated from environmental and social responsibility![1]

The global logistics and supply chain costs currently account for about 10.6% of global GDP[2] and the transport sector contributes about 23% of global energy-related CO2 emissions[3]. Technological trends—from artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain in traceability, to logistics automation and electric vehicles—are opening up historic opportunities to reshape the industry toward low-carbon and circularity.

As one of Southeast Asia's leading export economies, with a very high level of international integration and trade openness, Vietnam is standing at the crossroads of two major trends: being an attractive destination of the global supply chain shift wave (China+1 strategy) but the internal capacity of local enterprises is still limited, and at the same time it is under pressure to go green from major trading partners in the United States, the EU, China, South Korea and Japan. Key export industries such as electronics, textiles, footwear, wood, agriculture and fishery are increasingly facing the requirements of supply chain transparency and product lifecycle emission verification.

The National Strategy for Green Growth for the period 2021–2030 (Decision 1658/QD-TTg issued on October 1st, 2021) and the Government of Viet Nam's commitment to Net Zero by 2050 are promoting the formation of a new legal framework for sustainable logistics and supply chains. However, the gap between policy and business practice, between academic knowledge and practical application, is still huge, and this is the space where scientific research needs to play a pioneering role.[4]

In this context, the International Conference on Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains (ISLOGS 26) co-organized by Pheniaa University, the International Sustainable Aviation and Energy Research Society (SARES), Piri Reis University (PRU,  Turkey) and the Great Peace International (GPI) aims to create an academic forum for domestic and foreign scientists, policymakers and practitioners to: (1) share the latest research results on sustainable logistics and supply chains; (2) discuss policy models and best practices on sustainable logistics and supply chains; and (3) building a long-term network of international research and consultancy cooperation.
